Kidman Receives Apology Over False Perfume Claims
LATEST: Actress NICOLE KIDMAN has been issued an apology from a British newspaper after it claimed she had jeopardised her position as the face of CHANEL. The Daily Telegraph published a retraction on Friday (07Dec07) offering "sincere apologies" for embarrassment caused to the actress by claiming she preferred Jo Malone's White Jasmine + Mint scent to Chanel No 5, which she endorses under a multi-million-dollar contract. Top libel firm Schillings began legal proceedings against the newspaper after it stated the Moulin Rouge! star had been "dabbing it on whenever she had a moment" while in the U.K. to promote her new film The Golden Compass. The newspaper adds, "We now accept that it was entirely untrue to allege that Nicole Kidman had been openly using and promoting a competitor's product."
