Kid Rock - Kid Rock Takes Aim At Jay-jay Z And Justin Timberlake Over Ticket Prices
Kid Rock has criticised fellow musicians Jay Z and Justin Timberlake over the high costs of their concert tickets.
The Cowboy hitmaker recently announced plans for a budget-friendly tour this summer (13), charging fans just $20 (£12.50) to attend dates on his new U.S. trek, and he has now hit out at stars who sell seats for inflated prices.
In an interview with U.S. chat show host Piers Morgan, Kid Rock was asked about rumours suggesting Jay Z and Timberlake will be charging devotees up to $225 (£147) to attend their joint shows, and he replied, "It's garbage. It's highway robbery. I don't care who you are... I would consider both of them in a circle of friends in the business but I don't agree with it."
Kid Rock has also struck a deal with bosses at each venue on his $20 Best Night Ever tour to reduce costs on everything from parking to merchandise, and he will lose an estimated $50,000 - $100,000 (£32,705 - £65,411) at every show, but the star insists overpaid musicians can afford to take pay cuts.
He adds, "It's gotten out of hand. The price of concerts, the price of entertainment period. You know, whether it's a sporting event, going to the movies, buying a soda there, whatever... I've always tried to keep prices what I think are fair. And I've always said I'm proud that I could walk around with my head held high and look someone in the eye, knowing that I haven't taken an un-honest dollar from a working man... I make a lot of money. I can take a pay cut."
Kid Rock will kick off his upcoming live dates in Virginia on 28 June (13) and will wrap up the shows in Tampa, Florida on 15 September (13).
