The 56-year-old actor was set to take on the role of Ace Woody - a sadistic trainer of slaves who pits fighters against one another - in the cowboy movie, but a combination of scheduling conflicts and personal reasons are believed to have led to him leaving the movie, according to Deadline.com.
Kevin is currently working on the Superman reboot 'Man of Steel' where he is playing Clark Kent's adoptive father Jonathan Kent along with starring in and producing TV miniseries 'The Hatfields and McCoys' and as a result of time constraints the two month shooting schedule for 'Django Unchained' proved difficult.
The film tells the story of slave-turned-bounty hunter Django (Jamie Foxx) who takes on villains Ace and Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio), the owners of a Mississippi club and ranch in order to free his enslaved wife, after being freed by German bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz), while Samuel L. Jackson will take up the role of Calvin's head slave Stephen.
Tarantino is testing actresses for the role of Django's wife with Kerry Washington tipped to get the part.
'Django Unchained' will begin production in November.
