Kelly Clarkson - Kelly Clarkson Performs Idol Duet With Aldean

Kelly Clarkson - The 28-year-old pop singer Kelly Clarkson retuned to American Idol last night (14th April 2011), almost ten years since she stormed to victory on the reality singing contest, reports Billboard. Clarkson was among the special guests on an evening that saw rocker Paul Mcdonald eliminated.
Clarkson was joined by the American country singer Jason Aldean to perform a duet of their chart topping hit 'Don't You Want To Stay'. The 'original' American Idol was given a warm reception on her return to the show, but her performance was eclipsed by an energetic live appearance from R&B star Rihanna. The 23-year-old took to the stage to perform her latest hit 'California King Bed' and was given a standing ovation by the show's all-star panel of judges. After both performances, the Nashville-based rock singer Paul Mcdonald became the first male contestant to be eliminated from this year's show. MCDonald, who fronts the band Grand Magnolias, made a grand exit with the song 'Maggie May', telling the crowd, "C'mon, don't be sad about this!" Joining the singer in this week's bottom three were Haley Reinhart and Stefano Langone, both of whom have been up for elimination in previous weeks.
Kelly Clarkson recently took to her Facebook page to announce that her fifth studio album has been delayed. The singer revealed that the record will not hit shelves until September, despite being scheduled for a release in early 2011.

Kelly Clarkson And Husband Brandon Blackstock Choose Beautiful Name For Baby Girl 4243992 News

The 2014 baby invasion continues. This week’s celebrity mother is Kelly Clarkson, who just welcomed a baby girl with husband Brandon Blackstock. The baby girl was named River Rose Clarkson – a name that seems like a perfect fit for the literature-inclined Clarkson. Last year, the star attempted to buy a ring, which once belonged to Jane Austen because she admires the author’s work. The ring was ultimately bought off by the Jane Austen’s House Museum, but the singer’s love of beautiful language seems to be alive and well.

American Idol Hopes to Revive Itself After Season 13 4206006 News

Things have been up and down lately for 'American Idol,' as the singing competition is reaching the end of its 13th season. The ratings for one of the more recent episodes reached an all-time low in viewers -- a measly 7 million, while the show’s highest attraction drew in 30 million. Additionally, publicity for one of the finalists hasn’t been too hot either, as contestant Caleb Johnson found himself in a bit of trouble when he called his social media critics “retards” in a video interview with AfterBuzz TV. Either way, the show must go on, and Idol’s two night season finale begins on Tuesday, May 20 as Johnson takes on Jena Irene for the 'American Idol' crown.

“We don’t really care who wins,” Johnson told a group of press outside of Los Angeles’ Nokia Theatre on May 19. Irene, on the other hand, stated that win or lose, she wanted to “go out on a good note.” Irene may have the better philosophy here, because as 'American Idol' grows older and older, it raises the question: does anyone really care who wins 'American Idol' anymore?

Despite the sinking ratings, Fox has already renewed the show for a 14th season to air in January 2015, and they’re promising that some changes will be made, even before the current season is over. A rumored change is that the show will begin to air only one night a week instead of two.

Whether tweaks to 'American Idol'’s format will help the show or not, it seems pretty evident that, no matter what, it’ll never quite reach the juggernaut status that it used to be known for, especially when it comes to its contestants and winners. The winner of season twelve, Candice Glover, sold only 58,000 copies of her debut record that was released this past February, while season nine’s winner, Lee DeWyze, only moved 100,000 of his album in total, and he was subsequently released from his contract with RCA records.

Kelly Clarkson SingingKelly Clarkson is American Idol's most successful winner to date, selling 20 million records worldwide

Granted, there are some exceptions, as season eleven winner Phillip Phillips has flourished on Adult Contemporary radio, while season ten winner Scotty McCreery has torn up Country charts. Still, it doesn’t come close to the marks that Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood reached during Idol’s heyday and the success that still continues in their careers years after. Maybe it has to do with America just being burnt out from singing shows in general, as once immensely popular shows like 'The Voice' and 'Glee' happen to be suffering from their ratings dipping as well. Whatever the future holds for 'American Idol' and singing competition shows in general, it’d be a good idea for the winners to start making a name for themselves, because the days of the show doing it for them are over.

"Okay, we can OFFICIALLY say it! WE ARE SO #HAPPY to announce PHARRELL WILLIAMS = #NewVoiceCoach for SEASON 7," the show captioned a shot of the new judge. The last year has seen the 40 year-old pop star on a high: he collaborated on last year's top two songs of the summer, 'Blurred Lines' and 'Get Lucky,' has worked on the Amazing Spider-Man 2 score alongside Hans Zimmer and received an Oscar nomination for his chart-smashing Despicable Me 2 song, 'Happy.'

Speaking to Ellen on her talkshow of his decision to leave, Gnarls Barkley singer Cee Lo told the surprised host "I'm not coming back at all," explaining "I just don't want to wear out my welcome there, you know what I'm saying? I have so many other things that I want to do. I haven't released an album in four years. I'm almost done with my album."

The show also recruits a selection of celebrity mentors to help the contestants hone their skills. Coldplay's Chris Martin was the most recent addition but Kelly Clarkson, Alanis Morissette and Cher have each taken on the advisory role.

Kelly Clarkson Reveals Gender Of Baby, She Is Expecting A Girl! 4033545 News

Kelly Clarkson, and husband Brandon Blackstock, are preparing to welcome a baby girl into the world.

The pop-singer took to twitter to announce the happy news to her 9.3 million followers.

"We just found out we're having a girl officially!" she posted on Monday (Jan 20th). "I knew it! Only a girl could cause this much drama with all this vomiting ha!"

Clarkson has also used the social media site throughout her pregnancy distress's and advised any fellow pregnant ladies what to do to avoid morning sickness.

On January 12th, she posted, "Ladies if you r pregnant & sick as a dog trust me when I say the one thing u will keep down might just be "baked potatoes" #godblesspotatoes."

While appearing on the 'Ellen DeGeneres Show' this past December, Clarkson revealed her struggles with adjusting to morning sickness, presumably before discovering potatoes were the answer.

"I vomit a dozen times a day. It's like bad. I vomited before coming out here," she admitted. "It's so bad. It's, like, so gross. You're not attractive when you're pregnant. Everybody tells you [that] you glow and your hair is pretty and your nails are pretty. That's total crap."

The 31 year-old is four months gone now, after announcing her pregnancy (you guessed it) on twitter back in November.

"I'm pregnant!!! Brandon and I are so excited!" she wrote on November 19th. "Best early Christmas present ever :)"

This will be the first child for the 'Stronger' singer but she is already a step-mother to Blackstock's two children from a previous relationship, after the pair tied the knot back in October (2013).

Congratulations to the happy couple.

Kelly and Jason also had a standing ovation! You must need your hearing checked because Kelly's vocals out did Rhianna by a long shot!
