Whether it's because they're in similar professions, Nashville-based talent manager Brandon Blackstock and global pop star Kelly Clarkson seem to 'fit'. The pair are now engaged after Blackstock popped the big question in Decemeber, and Clarkson's been doting on her beau to Cosmopolitan.

"Brandon's totally the one," Clarkson, 30, tells the fasion and lifestyle mag for its February issue. "I've never been so happy," she continued, before describing the night Brandon asked her to marry her as the "happiest night of my life." It's not as if the pair were new to each other, but following a friendship, romance has blossomed for her. "We've known each other for years, but we didn't start talking until the Super Bowl last February," Clarkson says in the issue, which will be available on Tuesday. "This is the funniest/worst thing ever: One of my superhero idols is Whitney Houston, and the day she died was our first date," she says. "I was like 'This is a bad omen.' Six years I was single before this," Clarkson adds. "I've never been truly loved like I am right now."

Before her relationship with Brandon got serious, and even up until the engagement, people assumed Kelly was a lesbian, which is something she (obviously) denies in light of her recently arranged nuptials. "People think, 'Oh, she's been single for too long.' That's kind of an insult to the gay community," the singer said.
