Keith Olbermann Fired From Current Tv

Sharp-witted TV anchor Keith Olbermann has been fired from his post on Al Gore and Joel Hyatt's Current TV network after less than a year in employment, Business Week reports. The sometimes-volatile presenter, described sometimes as the left-wing counterpart of Fox New's Bill O'Reily, reportedly faced dismissal after numerous clashes with his employers.

Given the role as chief news officer, he was charged with providing editorial guidance for all of the network's political news, commentary and current events programming as well as hosting his own show 'Countdown.' He was given a five-year contract, worth a reported $50 million, during March and April of last year, making his network debut in June of the same year.

TMZ has since reported that Olbermann is seeking legal action against the network for his unfair dismissal. He released a statement explaining in part: "It goes almost without saying that the claims against me implied in Current's statement are untrue and will be proved so in the legal actions I will be filing against them presently." He has since gone on to bad-mouth the network even more so, describing it as a "ragtag operation" that he was planning to leave much earlier than his dismissal was announced. Former New York governor Eliot Spitzer has since replaced his slot on Current TV for a temporary period.

Keith Olberman was the best thing about MSNBC. And now this. I hope he settles someplace where my mother and I can both enjoy his brilliant, insightful brand of political humor.
