Late British singer Trish Keenan is set to return to the charts from beyond the grave - her Broadcast bandmate James Cargill is planning to release her final recordings on an upcoming tribute album.
The group's frontwoman died in January (11) after contracting swine flu and pneumonia following a tour of Australia. She was 42.
Her electro band Broadcast has been on hiatus ever since, but now Keenan's pal and partner Cargill is hoping to put the finishing touches to a string of unreleased songs Keenan had been working on prior to her passing.
He says, "Trish left a lot of tapes, four-tracks and stuff. The next thing I release with Trish on it will be more like a monument and a tribute to her..."
And Cargill is confident fans will appreciate hearing the new music as it's some of the best work Keenan had done.
He adds, "Trish's vocals are really great. They're a bit more pastoral... I liked the lyrics she was writing. They fit the pastoral, folk thing. She'd taken a lot from Lewis Carroll and some of the nonsense verse she was into. I think it might be a bit more like the older Broadcast."
The next Broadcast album won't be the only project Keenan's vocals have appeared on posthumously - she also lent her talents to fellow electro star Prefuse 73's track The Only Trial of 9000 Suns, which was released on his album The Only She Chapters in April (11).
