The divorce may take a while to come through before Katy Perry and Russell Brand can consider themselves properly separated but in the mean time, Katy Perry has issued the ultimate snub: She has 'unfollowed' her former partner on Twitter, according to a story from the Mirror. In a world where users of the social media / micro-blogging site consider the number and calibre of their followers to be badges of honour, Katy's actions represent a serious diss to her ex.
Earlier in the relationship, the pair had often used Twitter as a channel for their flirting, though Russell notoriously overstepped the mark when he posted a picture of Katy with no make up on. More recently, though, she has used Twitter as a means of connecting with her fans and thanking them for supporting her through the breakup. At the beginning of January (2012), she posted a message that read "I am so grateful for all the love and support I've had from people around the world. You guys have made my heart happy again." Dropping 'rustyrockets' won't prevent Katy from keeping an eye on her former beau if she wishes to, but it will stop his updates from automatically showing up in her timeline. Russell hasn't been using Twitter all that much recently though, so she won't be missing an awful lot.
Whether or not Russell Brand will take advantage of their lack of prenuptial contract and try to claim half of Katy Perry's fortune remains to be seen. The pair split in December 2011, with Brand filing divorce papers in an LA court house on December 30, 2011. He cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.
