Katy Perry - Katy Perry On Russell Brand Divorce: The Truth Will Prevail

During one scene, Perry realizes her relationship with Brand is over, and begins to sob backstage. When asked by MTV News why she wanted to give an insight into her personal life, the singer explained, "In my personal struggle, you see me not changing and not giving up on this dream that I've had my whole life. Hopefully people are inspired by that.You don't always see me with all the gorgeous lighting and makeup on and all that. I think it's fine". As her divorce is only shown from her point of view, Perry was asked if she felt pressure in revealing what happened and whether she thought Brand's side of the story will come out. She explained, "The truth will always prevail.Everything has to be handled with integrity and appropriately, and it's not nice to air all your dirty laundry, because that stinks, so I had to be very delicate with the situation, but I couldn't avoid the elephant in the room". She went on to suggest that if fans had bought a ticket for the movie, and the breakup wasn't mentioned, they'd question her integrity.

Katy Perry: Part of Me' hits theaters in 3-D on July 5, 2012. The film includes live footage from her sold-out 'California Dreams' tour, recorded on November 23, 2011 at the Staples Center, Los Angeles.
