Katy Perry Lights Up The Show
Some of the biggest stars in the world gathered last night (03.05.10) for one of the most prestigious fashion nights of the year.
Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kate Hudson and Gisele Bundchen were among the big names at the Costume Institute Gala at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, for the opening of the American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity exhibition.
While everyone looked stunning in their designer gowns, it was perhaps Katy Perry who stole the show with her glow in the dark dress.
While the CuteCircuit floor-length pale Pink and white dress wasn't to everyone's taste, the 25-year-old singer definitely stood out as the LED bulbs in her outfit lit up and her dress changed colour.
Speaking about the floor-length gown, Katy said: "I feel like I really have to represent those girls that just go for it and do their own thing and, you know, have their own bit of spontaneity and self confidence. I think sometimes in fashion it can get a little stuffy so I wanted to lighten up!"
'Harry Potter' actress Emma Watson also shined in a white long-length dress, which had a sexy split up the side, and says she was pleased to have a break from studying at nearby Brown University.
She said: "I'm pretty lucky I get the best of both worlds and that's why I'm so blessed."
TV talk show host Oprah Winfrey and US Vogue editor Anna Wintour co-chaired the annual bash, along with Gap creative director Patrick Robinson.
Other stars to attend included Demi Moore, Jessica Alba and Anne Hathaway.
