Katy Perry Leads Vma Nominations

Katy Perry leads the nominations for the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), scoring nods in nine categories.

The 26-year-old singer saw four of her tracks nominated for awards, with 'Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)' up for Best Pop Video, 'Teenage Dream' up for Best Cinematography and 'Firework' shortlisted in three categories, Best Female Video, Best Art Direction and the coveted Video of the Year.

Her collaboration with Kanye West, 'E.T', is up for four awards, Best Collaboration, Best Direction, Best Editing and Best Special Effects.

On hearing the news, Katy was convinced there had been a mistake.

She said: "Nine? I thought that was a typo or something! Oh my God, really? That's the most nominations I've ever gotten for anything."

As well as his nominations with Katy, Kanye scored an additional three nods, including another mention in the Best Collaboration category for his song 'All of The Lights' with Rihanna and Kid Cudi.

British singer Adele is also up for seven awards, with her nominations coming in categories including
