Katy Perry Didn't Ignore The 'Elephant In The Room'
"For me it was important with this movie not to ignore that elephant in the room," Katy explains in an interview with The Sun. "I am not hiding anything, but I had to put it in with integrity and consideration because that's how I make all my choices, because I believe in karma." The article reveals that Katy was using all of her free time in between shows to fly back and spend time with her husband, but he was not reciprocating the gesture. She explains that she was not willing to put her career on hold for her marriage, despite her struggles to maintain the both of them "I always had plans to make this record and usually with a record, you tour a record. Touring is always important to me. It's like a big Iou to my fans, because I know they are the reason I exist."
When Katy and Russell split, rumors surfaced that it was because Russell was keen to start a family and Katy wasn't. Although she was reluctant to discuss the specifics of their relationship, she did explain some of her thoughts on motherhood, saying "Ever since I was younger I wanted to be on stage, singing my songs in a glittering costume. And that happened and is still happening. I have to remember that this is what I wished for and be grateful because there are 500 other girls right behind me that are ready to snatch it up. When I decide to become a mother I will just be that. That will be really important to me."
