Pop star set to pre-empt comedian's own comments about their failed marriage
If Russell Brand thought he was going to have it all his own way when it came to talking about his marriage to pop star Katy Perry, then he should think again. It turns out that Perry is going to be releasing a book this year too, in order to give her own side of the story regards their 14 month marriage.
Perry has since gone on to date notorious ladies man John Mayer, although they seem pretty steady at the moment – steady enough for The Sun to report that she’ll also be including some thoughts about her new union with the soft rock star. However the chief aim of the book will be to rebuke anything negative Brand might have to say in any forthcoming release of his own, with a source saying “Several publishers have been after Katy for a while. She decided to go ahead so fans don’t have a one-sided story when Russell publishes another Booky Wook.”
Brand and Perry first met in the summer of 2009 and eventually started dating after that year’s MTV Awards in the autumn. The whirlwind romance meant that the pair got engaged by the end of that year, eventually getting married in October 2010 in a traditional Hindu ceremony. However by the end of 2011 it had all gone kaput, with the divorce between the pair eventually finalised last summer.
