Two of pops biggest female stars will be taking on each other at this years VMA's, with Katy Perry taking on fellow star Rihanna in four different categories, although Rihanna does lead the way in terms of overall nominations, with five nods.
Perry has been nominated for Video of the Year for the mystical-themed 'Wide Awake' video, whilst Rihanna will be representing the category with 'We Found Love' as well as 'Take Care', the Drake song on which she features.
The two will also trade blows on the Best Female Video, only this time Perry will be represented by her 'Part of Me' video, with 'We Found Love' still fighting Rihanna's corner.
Katy, who is currently promoting her new film Part of Me, has been commemorating another Rihanna-affiliated achievement to go with her VMA nominations when her latest single 'Wide Awake' reached number 1 on the Billboard Pop Songs chart today, tying her with Ri's record of nine number 1 hits.
The two singers are followed closely by fellow pop rivals Lady GaGa, Britney Spears and Pink, who each have seven number 1s on the Pop Songs chart, whilst Beyonce and Mariah Carey are only slightly further behind, with 6 nominations each.
