Katy B - Katy B Not Confident About Award Win

Katy B doesn't think she will win the Barclaycard Mercury Prize.

The 22-year-old singer is nominated alongside Adele and Tinie Tempah for the prestigious award - which recognises the best British albums of the last 12 months and has previously been won by Arctic Monkeys, Klaxons and Franz Ferdinand - and although she is "happy" her debut album 'On a Mission' has been put forward she does not expect to be crowned the victor at the London ceremony on September 6.

She said: "I really don't think I'll win it but I'm just happy to be nominated. It's a great award because it's about recognising the album rather than it being about a single or being a big seller. It's all about the music."

Although she is enjoying her success, which includes her debut LP hitting number two in the UK album chart and three top 10 hits, Katy admits she does crave a quieter life on occasions.

She added: "I always said that I'd move out of the city, get a farm, a nice vegetable patch and find a man who loves me and I'll write songs on my piano."

Isle of Wight Festival 2014 Review 4246854 Reviews

If there's something to take away from this year's Isle of Wight Festival, it's probably sunburn. Unlike the mud bath of two years ago, 2014 will be remembered for serving up one of the hottest weekends I can remember for a festival, along with some crowd-pleasing performances. While not every act managed to capture their moment in the sun, all the major names delivered in spades.

But it wasn't just the music that made the weekend for many; a real sense of celebration seemed to erupt across the site. Partly fuelled by anticipation over the World Cup and partly because of the good weather, thousands of smiling faces could be seen everywhere. Sunflowers seemed to be an essential festival accessory and many opted for as few clothes as possible with t-shirts looking like they'd gone out of fashion altogether. I've even had to make a note in my diary that it's international flip-flop day on June 20th, just one of the many things I learnt around Seaclose Park this year.

The highlight of Friday afternoon should have really been local boy Tom Odell on the main stage. But his piano led ballads took some time to win the crowd over despite his number 1 album 'Long Way Down'. By the time he'd finished though, the reaction showed that he'd justified his place on the main stage billing.

Rudimental were more of an instant success with the festival partygoers as anticipation grew for the two headliners. Perhaps surprisingly, Biffy Clyro were already onstage by 9pm and were placed on the bill ahead of Calvin Harris. Biffy's pyrotechnic sets tend to have more impact with the stage lighting at full effect and so it seemed a little disappointing to see much of their 90-minute performance under full daylight. Regardless, Simon Neil stepped up and claimed the headline slot with a visceral display of showmanship throughout. The stage exploded with glitter and flames at varying points, but the real highlights were tracks like 'Folding Stars' and the acoustic renditions of 'God & Satan' and 'Machines', which saw thousands of fans singing along. Closer 'Mountains' could quite easily have been the last song of the evening for the crowd, but then Calvin's set was still to come.

In all fairness to the 30 year-old DJ, he managed to follow a faultless rock set in some style. Rather than being an anticlimax, he built on the fervour created by Biffy to transform the main arena into an outdoor club night complete with laser light show. While the crowd may have been a little disappointed at the lack of special guest vocalists for the last set of the day, there was no doubting that he too was living up to his billing.

However, it wasn't just the fans watching the main stage that got a real treat on Friday night. On the second stage, the Polyphonic Spree put on a brilliantly eclectic set with some great choral vocals and brass throughout. But, in honesty, it was Katy B that stole the show, the Big Top filled up as she emerged just before midnight and for the next hour she was the undisputed queen of the festival.

By the time Saturday morning came around, many will have been pleased that the spot of rain didn't sour the atmosphere despite the hangovers. By mid afternoon, The Pretty Reckless were playing a raucous set on the main stage and the party atmosphere was in full swing again. John Newman and The 1975 struggled to quite capture the crowd's attention in the same way as The Waterboys had before them, but there was still plenty to look forward to.

While many in the Big Top had been enjoying the dance and pop-centred line up featuring the likes of Cher Lloyd, Dappy and later Clean Bandit on Saturday afternoon, the crowd in the main arena started to swell as an air of anticipation grew for The Specials. Terry Hall's band may just be one of the best bands to see at a festival. A back catalogue full of recognisable songs and an excuse for everyone in the audience to dance helped the band to receive a suitably warm welcome. While their most famous track 'Ghost Town' was played mid-set, the closing pairing of 'A Message To You Rudy' and 'Too Much, Too Young' ensured that their Isle of Wight appearance was a hit.

The problem that the Red Hot Chili Peppers were always going to have was competing against an England game, but in didn't seem to faze Anthony Kiedis, who'd been spotted in the artist village earlier that afternoon playing table football with his son and getting into the World Cup spirit. Indeed, the Chili's played it much safer than I'd expected for their headline set. There were no hints of new material despite the band being in the studio at the moment, and no rarities. Instead, the 14 songs they played relied heavily on more recent material from their last three albums, peppered with some of their earlier hits. Even if 'Under The Bridge' didn't get an airing, few in the crowd were left disappointed when Flea finally thanked the audience following a storming rendition of 'Give It Away'.

The sun may have been a little less enthusiastic on the Sunday over Seaclose Park, but certainly none of the acts were. The Strypes and The Horrors seemed to be key conversation points of the day following their sets in the Big Top. The main surprise for the crowds during the day was an impressive display by the Red Arrows, which was accompanied by a soundtrack of classic rock including Queen. Fall Out Boy put on a great show on the main stage, but really it was Suede that deserved most of the plaudits. 'Animal Nitrate' was a real festival high point which was followed in quick succession by the likes of 'Filmstar', an acoustic outing for 'She's In Fashion', and the set closer 'Beautiful Ones'. The latter saw Brett Anderson clearly delighted to be at the festival as he jumped around on stage.

Fellow Britpop contemporaries Travis, meanwhile, headlined the Big Top. Their set highlighting newer material quickly shifted gears to become a tour through their greatest hits. Fran Healy, sporting a giant beard, dutifully rewarded the crowd with an encore featuring an acoustic version of 'Flowers In The Window' and 'Why Does It Always Rain On Me'. The main stage headliners Kings Of Leon followed a similar template. It was their second time as headliners at Seaclose Park in the last three years but their 23 song set was no less entertaining the second time round. The Followill family performed tracks from across their six albums, relying heavily on 'Only By The Night' in the final stretch, and leaving crowd favourite 'Sex On Fire' to close the Isle of Wight Festival with a bang.

So while the big names didn't pull off any big surprises, the scorching weather helped to mark 2014 down as a good year for The Isle of Wight Festival. Certainly, the likes of Katy B, Biffy Clyro and the Red Hot Chili Peppers will be pleased with the reaction they got, safe in the knowledge that they've helped to get the festival season off to an impressive start.

Isle Of Wight Festival Set To Be A Scorcher [Pictures] 4242765 News

The Isle of Wight Festival 2014 is underway and it’s looking like it’s set to be a scorcher of a weekend! The Met Office has forecasted dry and sunny weather with temperatures reaching 22°C.  British festival-goers will have their fingers crossed that this unusual weather carries on for the rest of festival season, although that may be seriously wishful thinking.  With Glastonbury right around the corner we can only hope that the typical torrential rain of festival season doesn't start to set in.

Lovebox 2014 Announces M.I.A. Chase And Status Plus Many More 4106128 Press Releases

Lovebox returns in 2014 with its first line-up announcement and its most vibrant celebration of self-expression and diversity to date. Renowned for delivering our city streets' manifesto for musical discovery, London's favourite festival is back this year with a first-rate event quite unlike any other.

This coming July, Lovebox is being joined by Secret Productions (co-organisers of Wilderness and Secret Garden Party 2009-2013), building a larger family to choreograph a new vision for Lovebox 2014. Now spanning two days, an urban revival is on its way. This year's Lovebox is a true celebration of festival culture. Laced with giant art installations and theatrical sets sourced from Secret Garden Party and Burning Man, discover an immersive and hedonistic realm which will be unrivalled anywhere else in the UK, let alone London.

Headlining Lovebox 2014 will be fearless queen of rap M.I.A. The Matangi warrior we know as Maya, will unleash her musical explosion of light and heat on our main stage this year. An embodiment of worldly pop, M.I.A.'s celebration of music and freedom of speech will be perfectly placed in what is our most colorful Lovebox to date.

Also headlining this year's Lovebox are drum'n'bass duo Chase and Status. Touching down in their home city, London boys Saul Milton and Will Kennard's storming and riotous live show and will set our main stage alight with their dusty trip-hop grooves and jungle infused garage- the duo said "we're excited to be headlining Lovebox this year, we both come from London so to play this festival in our hometown will be great. Plus you can always count on London crowds to bring it".

Landing in Victoria Park this summer will be Harlem rapper Rakim Mayers, A$AP Rocky. A$AP's magnetic live show of East Coast rhymes and dreamy hip-hop anthems will run alongside Brooklyn's lyrical dynamo Joey Bada$$ who we welcome to the show. Rapper experimentalist Madlib and London born Knytro will also grace proceedings.

Cutting-edge electronic producer Sub Focus will be hyping up crowds with his storming sub-bass laden stage show, along with Crystal Fighters whose unique blend of Basque influences and electro-pop will get the party going.

Chart-topping R&B girls of the moment Katy B and BANKS are out in force as is hotly tipped songtress Elli Ingram, while electronic experimentalists Mount Kimbie and long-renowned UK producer Bonobo will be wowing crowds. We welcome critically revered institution The Horrrors, who over the course of four albums have come to the fore of the most progressive British bands of our time. Moderat's gloriously compelling live show will be one of Lovebox's many atmospheric gems, along with the ambient electronica of Submotion Orchestra.

Back after his hugely successful Ram Jam at last year's Lovebox will be master selector and British institution Sir David Rodigan. Shy FX and Stamina MC will be hyping up crowds along with Joy Orbison, Gaslamp Killer and Cyril Hahn.

We're hugely excited to welcome back Red Bull Music Academy for their second year at Lovebox. A world-travelling series of music workshops and festivals, RBMA is a platform for those who make a difference in today's musical landscape. This year the 2014 Academy will be touching down in Tokyo, but not before we enlist RBMA to take up their rightful position in their arena to host another monumental party at Lovebox.

Also back to Lovebox this year with her fail-proof party formula will be arena hostess Annie Mac in addition to her hotly-tipped acts chart-topping Duke Dumont, Joey Badass and Cyril Hahn.

The house and techno heads can enjoy Hotflush head-honcho Scuba along with the label's duo of the moment Dense and Pika. House and techno boss Paul Woolford will play as well as performing under his critically lauded alias Special Request. Bronx boys The Martinez Brothers' tribal house and techno will bring the party, and be sure not to miss Visionquest, one of the most successful dance collaborations of our time.

Purveyors of electro-boogie and nu-disco producer Tensnake and the Horsemeat Disco guys will be spinning for us in the sun, along with Huxley who's unique and British take on house will be sure to set off Lovebox crowds alongside Birmingham bass-lover Hannah Wants.

This year's monumentally discerning line-up is only one element of the Lovebox experience. Secret Productions have joined forces with MAMA to carefully curate one of the most jaw-droppingly impressive parties in the UK. We are extremely proud to welcome to Victoria Park, infamous Burning Man camp DISTRIKT. Known for throwing furious & fierce parties deep in the desert, the DISTRIKT penchant for benevolent mischief resonates deep in the heart of the Lovebox ethos.

Also on-site will be outrageous collective Bearded Kitten who are creating their own house party experience, home for the weekend to some of the finest DJs in the game. Lovebox welcomes the funkiest boxing-ring on the festival circuit, The Dance Off to this year's party. The Dance Off have enlisted Breakin' Convention and East London Dance to ensure Lovebox 2014 will play host to some of the best special guest dancers in the land.

We're Here Again: England 'World Cup Song' Will Debut March 21 4099441 News

As the England football team prepare for their biggest challenge yet, facing the world’s top teams in Brazil for the 2014 World Cup, some of the U.K’s biggest stars have seen football and music combine once more to cultivate the official World Cup song. It debuts on March 21st – Sport Relief night.

Sports Relief crewThe Sports Relief crew gear up for an active few days in the name of charity

Katy B, former Spice Girl Emma Bunton and Pixie Lott are amongst the stars singing on the song, while footballing legends Sir Geoff Hurst, Michael Owen, Dion Dublin and Carlton Palmer all appear in the video, which is lead by Match of The Day host/former England striker Gary Lineker and former Take That star, Gary Barlow.

The guys will have some job on their hands if they’re to supersede Baddiel, Skinner and The Lightning Seeds' 'Three Lions' song, which has become the iconic, quintessential football song trilled by England fans both home and away.

But still, having a song is probably better than no song at all, despite Embrace’s best efforts to ruin the paradigm for everyone; England’s last World Cup – South Africa 2010 – didn’t feature an official song as per the request of the then manager, Fabio Capello, who thought it would distract the players from their football.

As it happened, The U.S.A, Slovenia and Algeria distracted them from playing football, and Germany dealt the final blow as England’s boys didn’t make it past the first knock out round.

The team did make some progress last night, beating Denmark with a patchwork tea, at Wembley 1-0. Liverpool’s prolific striker Daniel Sturridge dispatched an Adam Lallana cross with an accurate header to score the winning goal. Perhaps if Gerrard has blasted out England’s song before the game, we could have seen 3 or 4.

Katy B has just reached a huge milestone in her young career.

The 24 year-old form Peckham London, has achieved a No.1 album in the UK, three years after entering the charts for the first time, the Official Charts Company reports.

Tramlines Festival 2014 - Line Up Announced The Cribs, Katy B Plus Many More.. 4050727 Press Releases

One of the UK's biggest inner-city festivals, Tramlines, today announces the first wave of lineups for the 2014 event, which returns to Sheffield for its sixth year on Friday 25 July to Sunday 27 July. Music fans can devour an eclectic bill of talent including, The Cribs, Katy B, Toddla T Sound (full live set), The Wedding Present, Deap Vally, Gold Panda, The Gaslamp Killer, Benji B, Moxie, Jonwayne, Lewis Watson and Blessa, as Tramlines continues its mission to deliver a diverse music programme to the masses.

Last year's Tramlines saw over 95,000 people turn Sheffield into one massive festival site over three days, across four outdoor stages and throughout 50 venues, creating a feel and atmosphere that rivals any green-field festival site. The lineup included Lianne La Havas, Toddla T Sound, The Selecter, B. Traits, Theo Parrish, New Young Pony Club, Shangaan Electro, Fenech Soler, Slow Club, Jim Jones Revue, The Invisible, 2.54, Friends, Rolo Tomassi and Dutch Uncles.

For Tramlines 2014, the Main Stage on Devonshire Green will reopen on the Friday night after a short hiatus in 2013, with a headline set from Mercury-nominated artist Katy B. Her performance is set to feature tracks from her highly anticipated new album, Little Red, and she'll receive support from none other than the Steel City's Toddla T, who'll bring his trademark bass sound with a full live show.

Elsewhere on the festival site, indie-rock veterans The Wedding Present will headline The Leadmill on Friday 25, showcasing their extensive back catalogue to underline exactly why they became one of John Peel's favourite acts, whilst Saturday night at the venue belongs to California duo Deap Vally, who take on the headline slot for an evening of garage-rock.

Saturday night will see a huge electronic music takeover at University of Sheffield venues Fusion, Foundry and Octagon. For fans of experimental dance music, Octagon is the place to be with co-headline sets from critically-acclaimed electronic producer Gold Panda and LA alternative hip-hop artist The Gaslamp Killer. Radio 1's latest 'In New DJs We Trust' signing Moxie will also appear as part of a massive lineup at Foundry as Tramlines continues its support for emerging artists.

Sunday night will go off with a bang as Wakefield indie-band The Cribs headline the main stage, playing huge hits such as, Men's Needs, and taster tracks from their two new albums due out this year. Other early bookings include respected Radio DJ Benji B, mysterious beat-maker Leon Vynehall, hip hop artist Jonwayne, the acoustic talents ofLewis Watson, local atmospheric pop band Blessa, and north-London rockers Shy Nature.

Many more acts across a wide spectrum of sounds are to be announced over the coming weeks including the Main Stage's Saturday night headliner. Tramlines takes over the entire city centre where hundreds of artists appear across its outdoor stages and throughout many venues including the o2 Academy, The Night Kitchen, the city's Gothic Cathedral, Fez Club, Fusion and Foundry, The Harley, Hope Works, Millennium Galleries, Queens Social Club and Yellow Arch Studios.

Priced at o12 for day tickets or o28 for weekend tickets (plus 10% booking fee). A limited number of pre-sale tickets already sold out in just five days, so buying in advance is strongly advised. Tickets will be available on the weekend at festival box offices, but will be priced at more than the advance tickets.

Sarah Nulty, Festival Director at Tramlines said: "We're really excited about the lineup so far and I think fans will see just how committed we are to compiling a diverse music programme that appeals to music fans across the board. Unlike previous years, the Tramlines team is now responsible for programing lineups across all main venues, so you're going to see even more of our music tastes in the hundreds of acts yet to be announced!

"We're thrilled to reopen the Main Stage on the Friday night. The brilliant Katy B, coupled with a live show from the city's very own Toddla T, will kick start a party that will last all weekend.

"With tickets priced at just o12 a day, it's still such good value. We're really excited to reveal the rest of the line-up and we're confident that the festival will be even better than last year."

Covering the entire city centre and beyond Tramlines is a festival where new music, art and entertainment is discovered around every corner.  Sheffield's Public Plaza, Barker's Pool, will be filled yet again with street theatre, dancers and workshops; there will be the welcome return of the Folk Forest, the Buskers Bus, and the Weston Park party - all with lineup announcements to follow.
