Kathryn Bigelow - Kathryn Bigelow: 'Film Protests Were Blown Out Of Proportion'

Kathryn Bigelow is adamant reports of mass protests in India during the making of her latest film Zero Dark Thirty were blown out of proportion.

The Hurt Locker director is tipped for success during Hollywood's upcoming awards season with her gritty new thriller based on the hunt for terrorist leader Osama Bin Laden.

Much of the movie was shot on location in India, where the production was reported to have been disrupted by protests from locals angry that their country was doubling for rival nation Pakistan onscreen.

However, director Bigelow insists she had nothing to worry about.

During a film panel discussion in New York, she told reporters, "There was a very small, I would say, protest staged for the press that kind of got magnified in the news... (We) met with the minister of culture constantly and were very sensitive on handling this movie."

The movie stars Jessica Chastain, Mark Strong and Joel Edgerton, and is due for release later this month (Dec12).
