Taylor Swift - Kathie Lee Gifford: Taylor Swift Did Crash Wedding!
Kathie Lee Gifford has confirmed that Taylor Swift was asked to leave the wedding of Kyle and Liam Kerry twice, but refused each time. It turns out, the television star is the stepmother of the mother-of-the-bride, and was present at the wedding held in Boston on August 18, 2012.
Kyle's mother Victoria had ranted to the Boston Herald about Taylor's behavior, though the country star's representative issued a statement denying that she was asked to leave. However, speaking on the Today show, Gifford said, "Why can't I stay out of trouble? I was just a guest at that wedding. [Kyle] is actually my granddaughter by marriage. The truth is, because I was there, Vicki's account is accurate". She added that Swift and her new boyfriend Conor Kennedy were asked to leave twice, noting, "I'm not sure [Taylor] didn't know she was invited". Kathie Lee recalled seeing the singer "in the hallway, waiting around", and "didn't know there was any drama going on at the time until I spoke to Vicki". Victoria was perhaps understandably wary that the famous star would take away from her daughter's nuptials and had asked the pair not to turn up via text message before they arrived. Speaking to the Herald, she said, "I personally went up to Ms. Swift, whose entrance distracted the entire event, politely introduced myself to her, and asked her as nicely as I could to leave. It was like talking to a ghost. She seemed to look right past me".
There is currently no word from Swift's rep Paula Erikson, who had previously claimed, "Taylor was invited to the wedding and the bride thanked her profusely for being there".
