Katharine Mcphee - Katharine Mcphee Heads To Africa To Fight Spread Of Malaria

The Smash star and her husband Nick Cokas headed to Accra, Ghana on Sunday (25Mar12) on behalf of the Malaria No More non-profit organisation, for which MCPhee is a spokesperson, to distribute mosquito nets to areas most affected by the deadly disease.

They visited a health clinic on Wednesday (28Mar12) and attended a special ceremony known as a durbar, a formal gathering of village chiefs and important locals, where they were treated to a dance and drum performance.

MCPhee also took part in a school play about a boy who contracted malaria, portraying a doctor in the children's production, and was gifted with a handmade stool by the village's most senior chief.
