You'd think that with a career stretching over more than 20 years and a slew of previous awards under her belt - including two past Golden Globes Awards - Kate Winslet would take the news of any more wins a little more mutedly these days. Not so though as the British actress delivered another wholly gushing speech as she picked up the gong for Best Actress In A Mini Series for her role in 'Mildred Pierce' at last night's Golden Globes.
Winslet had previously drawn mockery last year for a similarly over the top acceptance speech at the Emmy Awards, but showed no subsequent restraint in Los Angeles last night, with the UK's Daily Mirror reporting her thanking the organisers for "putting me in a category with heavyweight actresses that I am honoured to stand alongside," go on to praise 'Mildred Pierce's' makers - including listing them all - "giving me this part, thank you for giving me this experience," and finally, of course, thanking her family, finishing "I share this with my beautiful children Mia and Joe who light up my life every day. I am so proud to be their mum and I share this with them."
When Winslett wasn't on stage throwing out emotional platitudes like a fishmonger might of fish, she was turning heads by attending the event with boyfriend Ned Rocknroll. The pair were making their first public appearance despite being together since August last year.
