Kate Middleton To Sleep On London Streets For Charity
Maxwell, 48, revealed, "She asked me about sleeping out, so I said: 'Next time I do it, you're doing it with me. No excuses". Pointing out that Kate's husband Prince William is a patron of the Centrepoint charity who aim to give homeless young people a future, ambassador Maxwell said, "'He's done it.' She said: 'You're on". Prince William - whose mother Princess Diana was also a patron - prepared for Christmas 2009 by sleeping with the homeless near Blackfriars Bridge in London. At the time, he was reportedly close to being run over by a street-sweeper, though Centrepoint chief executive Seyi Obakin praised his efforts, saying, "He was determined to do it as patron to raise awareness of the problem and to be able to understand a little better what rough sleepers go through". A St James Palace spokesperson, said, "Prince William took away from the experience the importance of tackling all the issues that cause people to be homeless and stay homeless, from drug dependency to mental health problems", though they are yet to comment on Kate Middleton's possible involvement in a future project.
After marrying Prince William in the Royal Wedding, Middleton chose the charities at which she will take up honorary positions. They included 'Action on Addiction', the 'East Anglia's Children Hospices', 'The Art Room' and the 'National Portrait Gallery'.
