Kasabian - Kasabian Rock Isle Of Wight
British rockers Kasabian closed the Isle of Wight festival last night (12.06.11) with a rousing version of their 2009 hit 'Fire'.
Kasabian closed the Isle of Wight Festival in style last night (12.06.11).
The British band ended their headline slot by blasting out 2009 single 'Fire' to more than 70,000 rain-soaked fans, and entertained the crowd with a selection of hits including 'Shoot The Runner' and the title track from new album 'Velociraptor'.
Former Oasis singer Liam Gallagher - dressed in an overcoat, decorated in the colours of the UK's Union Flag- made his first appearance at the event as he took to the main stage with his new band Beady Eye and assured the drenched crowd they "still look pretty good, mate," before playing tracks including 'The Roller' and 'Millionaire'. The band closed their set with a cover of 'Sons of the Stage' by World of Twist.
Kings of Leon ended the opening Friday night (10.06.11) of the festival with an energetic set that included 2004 track 'The Bucket'.
The band told Absolute Radio DJ Geoff Lloyd: "This is one of the last festivals that we haven't done in the UK. Yeah, we've done pretty much everything else."
The group also said they're getting ready to start working on new material, adding: "Yeah we're jamming. Maybe musically we're kind of waiting for us all to kind of get back in the same head space before we go into the studio, because right now it'll probably be pulling in a couple of different directions."
Elsewhere over the weekend, Pulp and Iggy and the Stooges played the main stage on Saturday (11.06.11) before a headline set from 'Rope' rockers Foo Fighters.
The Script, Pixie Lott, We Are Scientists and 'Stay Too Long' rapper Plan B also performed at the event.
Highlights from the festival will be broadcast on Absolute Radio in the UK.
