Kasabian - Kasabian Ready For Reading

Kasabian are ready to headline Reading festival now they have released four albums.

The 'Days Are Forgotten' group will appear on the bill at the UK festival for the first time since 2005 this summer and say they've been waiting to top it until they had enough of a back catalogue to do the prestigious slot justice.

Guitarist Serge Pizzorno said: ''If you do it [headlining] too early you suffer. You need four albums to headline a festival without a doubt, you don't have enough tunes otherwise. So this has all gone to plan.''

Singer Tom Meighan is also excited about the prospect of headlining the rock festival, adding: ''Reading and Leeds is the one to play. We've done V Festival and that was great, but Reading and Leeds is nice. What's good is we've been away from it for so long, which is great.''

The band - also including Chris Edwards, Ian Matthews and Jay Mehler - had a memorable set the first time they played the festival in 2004, with the crowd chanting one of their biggest tracks back at them for a time after the show.

Serge added: ''We played 'LSF' and the crowd carried on singing it, and this is no s**t, they must have been there for about four hours. It was incredible.''

The Reading and Leeds festivals take place in England between August 24 and 26 and will also be headlined by The Cure and Foo Fighters.
