Karl Urban To Play Judge Dredd?

Karl Urban has been offered the role of Judge Dredd in a new reboot of the film.

The 38-year-old actor - best known for his portrayal of nervous doctor Bones in 2009's 'Star Trek' has been offered the role of the iconic comic book character famously played by Sylvester Stallone in 1995.

According to Bleeding Cool, the star will not remove his helmet - as the comic book character is famed for - and it will be shot in the 3-D.

Pete Travis is writing the movie which has been penned by Alex Garland.

It is expected the movie will be shot later this year ahead of a release in late 2011 or early 2012.

New Zealand-born Karl has a number of films in the pipeline currently, and will next be seen in action comedy 'Red' alongside British star Helen Mirren, Bruce Willis and Morgan Freeman.
