Kara Dioguardi Quits American Idol
KARA DIOGUARDI has officially quit 'AMERICAN IDOL' as a judge. In a statement issued on the show's website DioGuardi said, "I felt like I won the lottery when I joined American Idol two years ago, but I feel like now is the best time to leave". The 39-year-old singer-songwriter joined the hit Fox show as a fourth judge for season eight and returned in season nine, however, she has decided to end her association with the singing contest, stating, "It has truly been an amazing experience. I am grateful to Fox, FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment, as well as the cast, crew and contestants, for all they have given to me".
As well as being an artist herself, DioGuardi is also a record producer, music publisher, A&R executive, composer, and television personality. She has written for a number of high-profile singers, including KYLIE MINOGUE, and is credited on over 120 albums.
The show's judging line-up now appears to be in turmoil, with DioGuardi following SIMON COWELL and ELLEN DEGENERES who both quit the show earlier this year. A number of replacements have been rumoured in recent weeks- the AEROSMITH frontman STEVEN TYLER was first said to be joining the panel, and JENNIFER LOPEZ is reportedly still in contract negotiations with Fox bosses.
