Kanye West's Fashion Moan

Kanye West claims he's not taken seriously in The Fashion world because he is a musician.

The 'Stronger' rapper - who designed a show line for Louis Vuitton last year - says people in the industry "look down" on him because of his background even though he knows what he's talking about.

He said: "Fashion completely parallels with music. Fashion people look down on musicians. They look down on celebrities. I don't care about whether I sit on The Front row - I want to see art in its purest form."

Although Kanye found it "heartbreaking" to only be asked to do one collection for Louis Vuitton, he admits he realised he wasn't cut out for a career in fashion after meeting Karl Lagerfeld and his dedicated team.

He said: "They love Karl so much and they'd die for him. Their grandfather taught them how to sew."

Kanye recently revealed he can sympathise with the late Alexander McQueen because they were both "tormented" by their need to be creative.

He said: "I'm tormented by the need to create. With the loss of McQueen I feel like we lost one of the faces of modern creativity's Mount Rushmore. There were times that the only thing that kept me on this earth was the need and responsibility to create. Maybe McQueen felt his job was done because his last collection was the greatest of the decade. We are all so hurt. I know we're selfish because he brought us so much joy and inspiration."
