Kanye West Sitcom? Clip Surfaces Online Showing Yeezy In Comedy Sketch [Video]

Rapper Kanye West stars in the bad acting comedy skit that was never supposed to happen - the untitled HBO sitcom shows him doing a bit of improvised acting as himself visiting a terminally-ill boy who says West's his sixth favourite artist. The video clip surfaced online when the actress in the video - Alison Quinn - who plays the Make-A-Wish aide uploaded the clip to YouTube as part of her acting reel.

The short clip's comedy comes from Quinn not knowing who the rapper is, and patronising him when he says he's been featured on the cover on TIME Magazine. The ill boy reels off a list of artist he likes more than West and the aide repeatedly gets the Yeezus singer's name wrong ("I'm from Ohio; we pronounce it Kenny") to Kayne's increased disgruntlement ("Well I don't care where you from, you pronounce my name Kanye.") The video's pretty funny in an awkward kind of way, showing off new dad Kanye's (lack of) acting skills and it would have been interesting to see what would have happened if the sitcom had seen the light of day.

Writer and producer Larry Charles (Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm), who was affiliated with the project in 2008, said that the sitcom was based on the awkward anti-humour of Curb Your Enthusiasmn, and that "It was really good, but ... I think it was too hard-core for HBO. Also, HBO's management shifted. HBO doesn't have a good track record when it comes to black shows, and I felt like that may have had something to do with it also," speaking to ComingSoon.net. Charles also praised West's unexpected comedic talent, saying "he's so much funnier than people realize. Even the whole being full of himself stuff is a joke to him and he likes to play that of being like, you know, Kanye. And he's kind of a brilliant guy actually."

In the same year, West also created "hip hop Muppet show" Alligator Boots which, although again wasn't picked up by any network, was shot in Jim Henson's studios in LA and featured celebrity cameos, including Kim Kardashian dressed as Princess Leia, and Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz, reports Billboard. Someone needs to give this man a chance!
