Kanye West called into Hot 97 recently to object to being named #7 on MTV's Hottest MCs list.
Miracle of miracles, Kanye West is speaking to the press once again.
Well, he spoke to the press once at least, breaking his “don’t do press, but get the most press” rule for a disgruntled call to Hot 97's DJ Enuff, expressing his disappointment about MTV’s Hottest MC chart. ‘Ye came in at number 7 on the chart, which might be a solid spot, but it was far less than the rapper expected or deserved apparently.
The entire rant (although the unexpectedly calm and collected call could hardly be called a rant) was aimed not only at Kanye’s old ranking, no, the rapper also had some other opinions to express. The long call featured explanations about his recent flop compilation Cruel Summer, his upgraded high fashion image and the relationship with Kim Kardashian – all things everyone should care about deeply. After a long and convoluted explanation of why he thought he’d been downgraded, Kanye also said that Lil’ Wayne should have been ranked higher, but he had some good things to say as well: "more than anything, I'm happy for Sean."

So, overall, this episode of Kanye West Does Not Like Coming In Second (or 7th) ended quickly and painlessly enough. Let’s just be glad that no country pop sensations were involved this time.
