Kanye West - Kanye West And Jay Z Kick Off 'Watch The Throne' Tour
Kanye West and Jay Z finally brought live their much vaunted 'Watch The Throne' collaboration after much anticipation, performing a two hour plus set in the former's birth town of Atlanta, Georgia on Friday night (October 28th 2011).
Two men whose respective careers are glittering in both commercial and critical success, West and Jay Z's collaborative album was another to notch up huge sales, going platinum in their native U.S. and topping the Billboard Chart. All eyes were on how they'd present it live though and the duo didn't disappoint, reports Mtv.com, delivering a mammoth set that included tracks from the celebrated album as well as a selection of each rapper's songs from their own distinguished careers. Though Jigga had initial problems with his ear-piece feeding the backing music through, he battled gamely through the first two songs - which included initial single 'H.A.M' - before cueing to take a verse of 'Who Gon Stop Me' a cappella, allowing the issue to be fixed.
From then on the pair thundered through the set which saw the likes of Hova's 1997 hit 'Where I'm From' performed by the man himself solo, while West took centre stage for his own tracks 'Can't Tell Me Nothing' and 'Jesus Walks,' the pair combining for other Jay Z career staples like '99 Problems' and 'Gold Digger'. The curtain was brought down with 'Why I Love You,' the pair leaving the crowd in rapture; the North American tour is going to take up until Christmas, the final date playing out in Vancouver on December 18th 2011.
