Kalpen Modi: The Story Of An Actor Turned Politician

Kalpen Modi, often acting under this pseudonym Kal Penn, is making waves on the political scene, reports The Washington Post, but how did he go about manoeuvring a successful movie career to working with Barack Obama? Contactmusic.com finds out.
Modi made his name in the comedy 'stoner' epic, Harold and Kumar go to White Castle, in which he portrays a less than politically minded college student, who undertakes the task of satisfying his desire to quell the munchies with a certain burger. It was in college that the actor first acquired his political acumen, majoring sociology and film at The University of California-Los Angeles in the mid-90s. Following his days portraying a student stoner, he enjoyed a role in House, before Obama reignited his political flare. When his character Dr. Lawrence Kutner committed suicide on the hit medical-investigation drama, Modi found the time to campaign for Obama. He then secured position as associate director in the White House Office of Public Engagement, playing the role of liaison to young Americans, the arts, and Asian American and Pacific Islander communities.
In between making cameo's on hit shows like How I Met Your Mother, Modi makes satirical political speeches and continues to lobby for his President. The multi-talented actor/Politian spoke at the Dmc, imploring young people to stop political abstinence and partake in democracy. "I ask all of you young people to join me. You don't even have to put pants on," he joked, but he really means it.
