Justin Timberlake To Become Owner Of Memphis Grizzlies?
Justin Timberlake may be buying into the Memphis Grizzlies basketball team, as perspective new owner Robert Pera has admitted that the ‘Sexy Back’ singer is lined up to be part of the ownership group.
Timberlake, a Memphis native, is one of the NBA’s most prominent celebrity fans, showing up at games across North America whenever he can. The singer/actor has apparently committed himself to joining up with the rest of Pera's team of minority partners as the sale of the franchise looks to be drawing nearer. The team are currently owned by Michael Heisley, with Heisley now looking ever closer to handing the reigns over to the 34-year-old technology magnate Pera and the rest of his young team, sources have revealed. According to ESPN.com sources have revealed further that Timberlake and Pera have quickly become good friends and Timberlake “plans to be active" with the team and is determined to make "a meaningful investment into the team."
Sources have also revealed that Pera is not planning on moving the franchise once the acquisition has been made, a factor that was apparently key in drawing in the support of JT. When Heisley bought the Grizzlies back in 2000, they were still based in Vancouver but have since found a strong following in Memphis and look to continue doing so should Pera stay true to his word.
