Justin Timberlake - 'The 20/20 Experience': Justin Timberlake's Killer Sales Week
With such a good first week of sales, it looks like all Justin has to do is be his adorable self, and the records will just keep on selling.
Justin Timberlake’s big return “The 20/20 Experience” has been having one hell of an opening week, breaking records left and right.
With 968,000 moved off the shelves in the first week, the record blows the year’s previous best-seller – Mumford and Sons’ Babel – clear out of the water. 20/20 is the biggest first-week earner, ever since Taylor Swift cleaned up last October, with 1.2 million copies of her album Red sold in the first week, Rolling Stone reports.
Then again, it isn’t really a surprise that everyone wants to know what all the fuss is about – after all, we’ve been hearing about Justin Timberlake’s big comeback for so long now, it’s probably firmly embedded in everybody’s subconscious. It started with the surprise Twitter and Youtube campaign for Suit and Tie, followed by performances at the Super Bowl, the Grammy Awards, Saturday Night Live, Jimmy Fallon, you name it. When Justin says comeback, he really does mean comeback.
So is it any surprise then that The 20/20 Experience ranks as the top selling male album of the last five years? Not really, and it’s not just due to the music either. Still, Mirrors, which jumped 71 spots to number 17 in the Ultimate Chart this week, is still a freaking good song, if you don’t mind us saying.
The way things are going so far, Justin can just keep on laughing all the way to the bank.
