The 19-year-old singer was given first aid and oxygen for 20 minutes last night after leaving the stage while performing his 'Beauty and a Beat' hit complaining his lungs were hurting - and he has posted a picture of himself in hospital on his Instagram account to reassure fans he is recovering.
In a message accompanying the photograph he revealed the music of late US singer/songwriter Joplin has been helping him to recover, writing: ''getting better listening to Janice Joplin (sic)''
Justin also took to his Twitter account to thank his fans for all their ''love'' and support following the incident.
He wrote: ''getting better. thanks for everyone pulling me thru tonight. best fans in the world. figuring out what happened. thanks for the love (sic)''
Shortly after the 'Never Say Never' hitmaker - who infuriated fans at his gig at the venue on Monday (04.03.13) after turning up nearly two hours late - had left the stage to receive treatment his manager Scooter Braun informed supporters why the show had come to a temporary halt.
In a video posted by a fan on YouTube, Scooter is seen telling supporters: ''Justin got very light of breath, the whole show he's been complaining. He's backstage with the EMTs [emergency medical team] and the doctor.
''They're telling him they want him to go and see somebody and find out what's going on with his lungs, he's just told me that in five minutes, if it's OK with you guys, he's going to come out and finish the show.
''So he might not be jumping around as much and everything else, you guys need to be patient with us, we're not trying to be disrespectful, we're not trying to get you guys home late, we're truly trying to put on a show for the people who love him.''
Justin later returned to the stage and completed the show.
His 'Believe' world tour is due to continue in August with 125 dates in total. Last night was his fourth and final date at The O2 this week.
