Justin Bieber - Justin Bieber And Mariah Carey Share Spotlight In Christmas Video
Justin Bieber brought in the official countdown to Christmas in New York last night (November 30th) as the city's huge Christmas tree was lit in anticipation of the advent calendar month - unveiling the video to his and Mariah Carey's cover of her classic song 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' in the process.
A plethora stars performed at the event beforehand including Michael Buble, Tony Bennett, Carole King and Neil Diamond, but it was Bieber who was the main draw and, indeed, who left the greatest impact. Mtv News reports that he arrived all guns blazing, wowing the crowd with a festive rap during his rendition of staple Christmas classic 'Little Drummer Boy', even being joined by rap icon Busta Rhymes for the track. Busta wasn't the last of the live collaborators either as former child prodigy himself, Usher, joined the 17 year-old for 'The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire)'. The piece de resistance came as Bieber wished his fans a Merry Christmas before a giant erected screen began to play the exclusive video of his and Carey's duet.
The video features the 41 year-old singer - still looking stunning it has to be said - in a skimpy Santa's outfit standing as though one of the display items in a Christmas department store. In between her and Bieber's verses - Bieber's seeing him rushing around the store picking up presents - the "real" Santa is shown outside handing out envelopes and directing families to the store. Both had tweeted their delight at filming the video recently, with Carey taking special resonance as it coincided with the anniversary of her 1994 Christmas album 'Merry Christmas II You'.
