Michael Jackson - Jurors Won't See Unreleased Michael Jackson Concert Footage
Previously unseen tour footage of Michael Jackson in rehearsals will not be shown at the upcoming Conrad Murray manslaughter trial, a California judge ruled on Monday (25Jul11).
The Thriller hitmaker's physician Dr. Conrad Murray stands accused of administering the fatal dose of anaesthetic that killed the superstar in 2009, just weeks before he was due to hit the stage in London for his This Is It comeback concerts.
Last month (Jun11), lawyers won permission to show raw footage of the King of Pop's show rehearsals at the trial - prosecutors thought it would show Jackson was fit and healthy in the weeks leading up to his death, while the defence team claimed the footage would back up claims he was already sick.
However, Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor has banned jurors from viewing the videos and ruled instead that they be kept under wraps, as requested by Sony Pictures Entertainment bosses.
He tells the Associated Press, "There is absolutely nothing in those materials that could have been of assistance to the defence... There are materials which I viewed which I would regard as extremely valuable to Sony."
Murray has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter. The trial is set to begin on 8 September (11).
