Juno's Page And Cillian Murphy Set For Psychological Thriller

by | 15 February 2008

Juno star Ellen Page has been added to the cast for upcoming psychological thriller Peacock, it has been confirmed.

The 20-year-old Oscar nominee is to star alongside 28 Days Later actor Cillian Murphy in the movie, set to begin shooting in May.

Michael Lander is to take his directorial bow with the movie, helming a script he wrote with Ryan Roy, also a newcomer to the industry.

Set in the tiny town of Peacock, Nebraska, Murphy will play a character with a split personality, who somehow fools the locals into believing his two personas are man and wife.

"Peacock stunned me as a script from start to finish," Murphy told Variety. "It offers an incredible challenge to an actor - one I couldn't turn down."

Page, signing up for her third film within the last 30 days, is attached to play a struggling young mother who holds the key to unlocking Murphy's shady past, sparking a war between the two personalities.

Sixth Sense producer Barry Mendel will take the same role on Peacock, while Mandate Pictures' Nicole Brown and Nathan Kahane are to executive produce.

Peacock marks Page's fourth project with Mandate, having already shot the hugely successful Oscar-nominated Juno. She is soon to begin filming Drag Me To Hell, a Mandate horror directed by Evil Dead helmer Sam Raimi, before moving on to Whip It, Drew Barrymore's directorial debut about the world of roller derbies.

Murphy can next be seen in Hippie Hippie Shake and reprising his terrifying role as Scarecrow in the Batman Begins sequel The Dark Knight, set for a June opening.
