Julianne Hough - Julianne Hough Was Hesitant To Date Ryan Seacrest

Actress/singer Julianne Hough was hesitant to date boyfriend Ryan Seacrest because the American Idol host is such a popular public figure.
The former Dancing With the Stars dancer first met Seacrest in Hollywood in 2007 when mutual friends set them up, but Hough admits she was skeptical and grilled him on their first date.
She tells America's InStyle magazine, "I was reluctant because he is such an influential guy, and what if it didn't work out? Our first date, I was so nervous that I just sat there and interviewed him with questions like, 'Are you loyal?' and 'Are you close to your family?'"
The pair has been a couple ever since and the Rock of Ages star reveals they maintain their romance by taking culinary classes together, adding, "When we do see each other, we are super excited and do these cute and romantic things... I'm very in love, and it feels great."
But, the 24 year old admits their cooking hobby has a downside: "I'm 20 pounds heavier than I was when we started dating."

Julianne Hough's Aim Was To Remain Single For One Year 4075160 News

Julianne Hough, who has been recently linked to Canadian hockey player Brooks Laich, didn't want to get involved with someone new just yet.

The actress/singer was left heart broken when her near 3-year relationship with TV personality Ryan Seacrest ended in March of last year (2013).

This affected her so much that she wanted to avoid relationships for at least one entire year.

In an interview with SELF Magazine for their March issue, Hough opened up about wanting to focus on herself and her career rather then look for love.

"I'm a relationship girl, and I feel so grateful for the one's I've been in. They've been excellent - I've been hurt but never angry - and they've helped me grow," she explained.

Adding, "But my goal has been to be single for an entire year."

Even though she admitted, "there have been moments when I'm like, 'This sucks!'" when referring to being single, the 'Rock of Ages' actress stated, "For now, I'm focusing on my work and my soul."

Although it seems Hough does have a new man in her life at the moment, she further expressed, "I honestly don't care if I meet somebody or not. I'm just loving life on my own with my own two feet on the ground."

Julianne nearly did make it a full year, she was only spotted with Laich last Sunday (Feb 16th) in Studio City, California, holding hands while they walked her dogs.

And even though neither of them has confirmed or denied their current relationship status, one month off a full year isn't too bad.

Ryan Seacrest's girlfriend signs with agency 3988401 News

Ryan Seacrest's new girlfriend has landed a modelling contract.

Shayna Terese Taylor has been snapped up by Wilhelmina Models shortly after she was photographed on holiday with the 'American Idol' host and his parents in Uruguay and Argentina late last month.

A spokesperson for the world famous agency told gossip website TMZ.com that Shayna recently signed a two-year contract and they believe the personal trainer, 24, has ''huge potential in the fitness and lifestyle world.''

Ryan, 38, who was linked to Sports Illustrated model Dominique Piek earlier this year, appears to be equally enamoured with the blonde beauty as he whisked her off on a Thanksgiving trip to South America with his family last month, where they were spotted being very affectionate.

An eyewitness, who saw them at a restaurant, previously said: ''They were obviously together, and the girl was clearly into Ryan. She was all over him, holding his back and his hand while he talked to the others. And he seemed to be loving the PDA.''

Ryan split from 'Safe Haven' actress Julianne Hough, 25, in April after three years of dating.

The former couple are believed to have split because he didn't want to get married and take their relationship to the next level.

Miley Cyrus tops Best and Worst Dressed lists 3982373 News

Miley Cyrus is among both the Best Dressed and Worst Dressed stars of 2013, according to TIME magazine.

The controversial singer has once again polarised opinions thanks to her daring dress sense by taking the crown for Worst Dressed celebrity and making the top ten in the publication's annual Best Dressed list.

The 'We Can't Stop' hitmaker's tackiest sartorial moment came during her infamous August appearance at the MTV VMAs, where she wore nude-coloured latex underwear and scraped her hair back into childlike buns.

However, Miley redeemed herself with her elegant ensemble at the FGI's 30th Annual Night Of Stars Gala in a sparkly floor-length gown by Marc Jacobs.

TIME magazine justified the 21-year-old star's rankings by writing: ''Miley's schizophrenic fashion this year has landed her on both our best and worst dressed lists ... After a summer spent shocking America with increasingly provocative getups - she told MTV that her ultimate look was a mix of 'white trash and Chanel'- the former Hannah Montana did an about-face with this Marc Jacobs gown for Fashion Group International's Night of Stars.

''The glittery green dress with a daringly low back is just the right mix of youthfulness and sparkle for the pop star. No furry animals, no crazy hemlines, no tongue wagging; here, Miley is dazzling and, dare we say, elegant.''

It comes as no surprise that actress-of-the-moment Jennifer Lawrence was crowned the best dressed star of 2013 for the pale pink princess Dior gown she donned to the Oscars, while Britain's Duchess of Cambridge came second for her elegant pregnancy style, in particular the pale blue Emilia Wickstead dress she wore during a visit to the National Portrait Gallery.

Meanwhile Kim Kardashian was hot on Miley's heels in her ''curtain''-inspired Met Ball gown by Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy, and Anne Hathaway's pink nipple-enhancing Prada gown at the Oscars earned her the third spot on the Worst Dressed list.

TIME's Top 10 Best Dressed stars are:

1. Jennifer Lawrence in Dior

2. Kate Middleton in Emilia Wickstead

3. Rihanna in Azzedine Alaïa

4. Jane Fonda in Atelier Versace

5. Kate Hudson in Alexander McQueen

6. Miley Cyrus in Marc Jacobs

Julianne Hough Defended By 'DWTS' Co-Stars Following Blackface Controversy 3928747 News

Julianne Hough has gained ample attention for her ill-advised Halloween costume, after she went to a pre-Halloween bash in Los Angeles dressed as Orange is the New Black character Crazy Eyes, complete with blackened skin. As criticism erupted, Hough quickly apologised for offending anyone and insisted that she meant no harm when she wore the blackface, stating that she is regretful and fully aware of the upset she may have caused.

With the controversy surrounding her showing no signs of abating, some of her cohorts on Dancing With the Stars have decided to lend their word to the argument, insisting that the professional dancer made a mistake, but it is one that should be forgiven and forgotten.

Her brother and fellow DWTS professional Derek Hough gave his opinion on the situation after Monday's (28 Oct.) edition of the show, telling E! News that his sister couldn't be more regretful of the whole situation. He said, "She's so apologetic. She's so, so sorry, and I just hope that we can all forgive her and move on."

I am a huge fan of the show Orange is the New black, actress Uzo Aduba, and the character she has created. Fellow show pro Val Chmerkovskiy also weighed in on the controversy surrounding her co-star, saying that the ill-advised move isn't a true reflection on Hough's character. Speaking to CNN, the dancer said, "I know Julianne personally and none of the critique that she is getting at all relates to her as a person, period. Whether it was a smart decision is a different conversation. But the intention, and going deep into the conversation of judging her character, of what she may or may not think behind the scenes - that is absurd."

He continued, "I know her as a person and she is kind and graceful ... and she has the right mentality. I just think it was a stupid mistake."

Current contestant Bill Engvall followed up the positive comments by stating that Julianne doesn't have "a mean bone in her body," adding that the costume idea was just an innocent mistake to make.

"Fortunately or unfortunately, in this day and age with 24-hour coverage and social media and all that, you got to be careful with what you do. And (Hough) would no more make any kind of racist statements than anybody on the earth," Engvall said. "And so I would say it was probably just an innocent mistake. ... Trust me, I've had things taken the way I didn't want things."

Following His Sister's Ill Advised Costume Idea, Derek Hough Goes Punk For Halloween 3927900 News

When Dancing With the Stars professional Julianne Hough went out for Halloween, her plan was to honour one of her favourite television characters; Crazy Eyes from the hit Netflix series Orange is the New Black. What she didn't intend on doing was causing a minor uproar and potentially offend some sensitive souls who were genuinely shocked to see the professional dancer dressed in black face. When it was time for her brother, Derek Hough, to go out for Halloween, you can bet that he kept it generic and inoffensive.

Derek dressed up for the Casamigos Tequila Halloween Party in Los Angeles, the same event where Julianne went dressed up as Crazy Eyes (who is played by Uzo Aduba in the show), in much less offensive attire and may have had something to say while he was there. If he didn't address the poor costume choice on the night, then at least he did his best to stick up for his kid sister in the aftermath of the fallout from the costume controversy.

"She's my little baby sister and she's the sweetest thing ever," Derek confessed to E! News backstage at Monday (28 October) night's edition of DWTS.

"She is just beyond beside herself. She's so apologetic. She's so so sorry.” He went on, saying how the black face obviously "wasn't her brightest moment in her life," but he is hopefully that we can all move on from the unfortunate incident. He continued, "Obviously, it wasn't her brightest moment in her life, but hopefully we can move on."

Julianne addressed the costume herself in a tweet posted on Saturday, 26 October, explaining that she didn't mean to cause any offense and that she is genuinely for offending anyone. She wrote, "I am a huge fan of the show Orange is the New Black, actress Uzo Aduba, and the character she has created,” she wrote. “It certainly was never my intention to be disrespectful or demeaning to anyone in any way. I realize my costume hurt and offended people and I truly apologize."

The 25-year-old actress, who is best known for her starring role in Safe Haven, appeared at the Casamigos Tequila Halloween Party in Los Angeles on Friday, 25 October. She and a group of friends attended the party dressed as the cast of Orange Is the New Black, the hit all-womens prison drama from Netflix. Hough wore an orange jumpsuit, her hair in small knotty buns and dark face paint. Her costume was inspired by Crazy Eyes, the character played by actress Uzo Adubo on the popular online series.

Blackface is a theatrical makeup technique which was regularly used by minstrel performers and in vaudeville to create a stereotypical caricature of a black person. It is highly offensive yet was evidently not Hough's intention as she has apologised for her unfortunate choice of costume.

Orange Is the New Black is a prison drama from creator Jenji Kohan. Taylor Schilling stars as Piper Chapman a woman who is imprisoned for her youthful indiscretions. She was encouraged by her lover Alex (Laura Prepon) to smuggle drugs. Piper, after separating from Alex, continues her life and acquires a fiancé (played by Jason Biggs). When Alex is finally caught, Piper is implicated and sent to jail. The show concerns Piper's adjustment to prison life. The character Julianne Hough chose to emulate is one who becomes enamoured with Piper.

Derek Hough Suffering With "Severely Injured" Back & Could Miss DWTS Tonight 3926621 News

Derek Hough may not be able to perform on this week's Dancing With the Stars. The 28-year-old professional dancer is paired with Glee's Amber Riley on this season of DWTS. Unfortunately he has been suffering with back problems which may mean he is not able to perform on this evening's episode.

Derek Hough is suffering with back problems.

Hough, according to sources speaking to E!, is in a great deal of pain owing to a back injury. A source close to the dancer said "His back is hurt. He's getting treatments now." However, the source also stated he is "not doing the dress rehearsal" which may mean he will not be able to perform.

However, this may be a case of mind over matter as Hough is insisting he is able to dance. Despite his determination he may not be permitted to appear as he needs medical clearance. Should Hough's doctor feel he is not up to the physical strain, Riley will be dancing with Harry Byalikov.

Hough referred to his injury on Twitter. On Sunday 27th he posted a photograph on Twitter of his back. A large needle can be seen pressing into his skin, probably injecting cortisone into the affected area. Hough added the comment "So this is happening - ouch!"

This appears to be a chronic and pre-existing condition probably dating from Hough's dance with Shawn Johnson late in 2012. A source speaking to Us Weekly, who first reported Hough's injury, said Hough's "back is severely injured - he had a pre-existing injury. He hurt his back dancing with Shawn Johnson, and he re-injured it dancing with Amber. He is determined to push through but not sure he'll be able to."

Hough is not the only one in his family to be attracting media attention this week. His younger sister Julianne Hough made headlines last week when she appeared in blackface at a Halloween party. She has apologised for the incident yet is still attracting criticism. Her brother has not commented publically on her costume decision.

Halloween Rolls Around With Plenty Of Ridiculousness, Including Julianne Hough's Blackface Scandal 3926504 News

Halloween weekend just passed and with it – the offensive, stereotypical costumes. There are a few every year and celebrities aren’t exempt from the rule. Case in point – former Dancing with the Stars staple Julianne Hough, who, apparently having been absent from the world for the past few decades, decided it would be ok to wear blackface as part of her costume. It wasn’t, of course, but in all fairness, Hough’s costume seems to be more a product of ignorance, rather than outright racial hate.

Halloween is the season for bad judgement, but this is going overboard.

See, everyone (well, most people) like to dress up as their favorite characters, be it from books, movies or TV, especially when Halloween rolls around. In Hough’s case, the character was Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren from Orange Is the New Black, played by actress Uzo Aduba. In our humble opinion, the orange jumpsuit and Crazy Eyes name tag should have made the costume recognizable enough, but Hough apparently decided to go that extra mile, crossing boldly into racially offensive territory. Aduba and her reps chose to wisely steer clear of the whole debacle, but plenty of twitter users were quick to jump on Hough’s case. So much so, that she was forced to apologize the very next morning after the pictures surfaced. And to her critics’ delight, it wasn’t the kind of non-apology we’re used to.

Hough tweeted: “I am a huge fan of the show Orange is the New black, actress Uzo Aduba, and the character she has created. It certainly was never my intention to be disrespectful or demeaning to anyone in any way. I realize my costume hurt and offended people and I truly apologize.”

Bets are open on how long it will take for this latest “celebrity scandal” to blow over.

Julianne Hough Attends Halloween Bash With Blackface. That Happened. 3926266 News

The world is split into two separate factions. Those who think it's still acceptable to wear a blackface, and those who don't.Everyone's favorite dancer Julianne Hough is semingly a fully paid up member of the former camp, having turned up to a Halloween party on Friday night (October 25, 2013) as a black character from the Netflix drama Orange is the New Black

The 25-year-old showed up at the Casamigos Tequila bash in Beverly Hills on Friday as 'Crazy Eyes,' the character played by Uzo Aduba in the critically acclaimed drama. Aduba is black. Hough is not black. Herein lies the problem.

Hough covered her face in dark makeup and styled her hair like Crazy Eyes' knotted do. She also wore an orange jumpsuit with its own prisoner ID.

Of course, Twitter went into overdrive once the images began circulating and Hough was admonished for the outfit. She apologized.

"I am a huge fan of the show Orange Is the New Black, actress Uzo Aduba, and the character she has created," she tweeted, "It certainly was never my intention to be disrespectful or demeaning to anyone in any way. I realize my costume hurt and offended people and I truly apologize."

Orange is the New Black - which has already been renewed for a second season by Netflix - is based on the memoir of the same name by Piper Kerman. It stars Taylor Schilling as a woman imprisoned for transporting drug money.

It generated more viewers in its first week than any other high profile original series on the video streaming service, including House of Cards and the new season of Arrested Development.

Julianne Hough Gets Called Out On Sporting Blackface For A Halloween Costume, Promptly Apologizes 3925598 News

There is still tons of cultural appropriation going on in entertainment, fashion, media, you name it. Still, in 2013, one would hope that we’ve at least moved on from blackface – not so, it would seem, as Safe Haven actress Julianne Hough was so keen to demonstrate ahead of Halloween this year. In a misguided nod of appreciation to the hit series Orange Is the New Black, Hough donned an orange jumpsuit, a “Crazy Eyes” nametag (apparently portraying) Orange character Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren… and painted herself with a thick layer of shiny brown makeup.

The platinum blonde, caucasian actress somehow decided it would be okay to wear blackface to a party.

Given the tradition of using blackface to mock the entirety of the black American population, and its use to denote black people as “other.” In short, not cool. Twitter users, bloggers and the general population of the internet was quick to point this out to Ms Hough.

Not a great look for Julianne.

In her defense, she did apologize and despite the appropriative costume, it was not the classic celebrity non-apology we’ve come to expect. "I am a huge fan of the show Orange is the New Black, actress Uzo Aduba, and the character she has created. It certainly was never my intention to be disrespectful or demeaning to anyone in any way. I realize my costume hurt and offended people and I truly apologize," Hough tweeted. There’s a lesson to be learned in this. Somewhere.

Uzo Aduba has maturely stayed away from the whole thing.
