Julia Louis-dreyfus - Julia Louis-dreyfus: 'Joe Biden Congratulated Me On Emmy Win'
Julia Louis-Dreyfus was astonished when Barack Obama's right-hand man Joe Biden personally congratulated her after she won an Emmy award for her role as the U.S. vice president in Veep.
The former Seinfeld star learned she had a fan in the real-life Vice President after she scooped the trophy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series last September (12).
She tells Politico.com, "(Biden) was in touch with me to congratulate me on winning the Emmy for this part, and he was very funny about it, which led me to believe that he may have seen a couple of episodes."
Louis-Dreyfus also reveals the show's political accuracy has been praised by staff who work alongside Biden in Washington, D.C.
She adds, "I will say, I've actually heard from people who will remain anonymous who work in the office of the Vice President that they've started to say, 'That's a Veep moment.' That's a huge compliment to the writing of the show...
"Credibility is incredibly important to me and... all the writers and cast. We have a lot of political consultants on our show and from both sides of the aisle that are in our employ, so we are constantly vetting scripts and having them vetted. Somehow it's a little more juicy if you can believe it, and it's funny at the same time. Our goal was to create this world, this sort of insular world, and I think we did a pretty good job at it."
