A Los Angeles judge has ordered a review of ailing U.S. radio personality Casey Kasem's medical care as his second wife and children fight to place him under conservatorship.
Kasem's adult kids from his first marriage, Kerri, Julie and Mike, launched legal action last week (ends11Oct13) to be granted power of attorney for their father's legal and medical issues, amid accusations their stepmother Jean has banned them from visiting their dad, who is battling Parkinson's disease and early onset dementia.
Jean Kasem challenged their bid, insisting any conservatorship ruling should be in her favour as she has been the prime caregiver for her husband.
The case was heard in court on Tuesday (15Oct13), but the judge refused to issue an emergency conservatorship to either party and instead called for an independent review of the 81 year old's health and medical care.
