Jude Law has signed up to Martin Scorsese's new movie 'Hugo Cabret'.
The British actor will be joined by a star-studded cast, including Ray Winstone, Christopher Lee, Sacha Baron Cohen and Ben Kingsley in the Oscar-winning director's big screen adaptation of Brian Selznick's best-selling novel.
The book 'The Invention of Hugo Cabret' follows the adventures of 12-year-old orphan Hugo, who lives in a train station and is desperate to finish his late father's work by solving the mystery of a broken robot.
'The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas' star Asa Butterfield, 13, will portray the title character and appear alongside Chloe Moretz, with Helen McCrory, Richard Griffiths and Frances de la Tour also being lined up to appear.
Filming of Scorsese's first ever 3-D movie began yesterday (29.06.10) in London, and will be produced by the coveted filmmaker, 'Aviator' producer Graham King, GK Films' Tim Headington and Johnny Depp.
The movie - which has been rewritten by 'The Aviator' scriptwriter John Logan - is due for release on December 9 next year.
GK Films bought the screen rights to the film after the book became a hit in 2007.
