Judd Hails 'Miracle' After Surviving Horrific Car Crash
Country singer WYNONNA JUDD is lucky to be alive after suffering painful injuries in a terrifying head-on car collision in Utah last month (Jul10).
The star and her teenage daughter Grace were passengers in a sports utility vehicle (SUV) driven by her road manager on 21 July (10) when another car veered across the highway in Salt Lake City and smashed into them.
Everyone involved in the crash was hospitalised and Judd was treated in the emergency room for concussion and three bruised ribs.
Grace, 14, and Judd's road manager only suffered minor injuries, while the driver of the other car, identified as Adolfo Perez, was airlifted to another medical facility in a serious condition.
Doctors wanted to keep Judd under their supervision but the singer, who is on tour, refused to cancel her show in Oregon the following day (22Jul10).
She discharged herself from hospital and returned to the road - and the 46 year old admits she wouldn't have cancelled her concert for anything, despite realising she cheated death in the horror smash.
Judd tells U.S. tabloid Globe, "One day you're on top of the world and the next day you're in the emergency room with a CAT scan. You think, 'Gosh, life is pretty precious and it's pretty fragile sometimes - and it's a miracle that I survived this crash.
"They didn't want to let me out of the hospital, and I said, 'I've got to go do a show.'"
Judd pressed ahead with the Oregon show, as well as her subsequent concerts in Washington state.
Police are expected to charge Perez, 29, for the incident.
