Judas Priest Star Rob Halford's Manager Sues Rocker And Bandmates

Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford's longtime manager has filed a $50 million (£31.3 million) lawsuit against the rocker and his bandmates.

John Baxter, who was fired in August (11) after representing the metal star since 1982, claims Halford owes him millions for contract breaches and commissions, as well as salary and expenses dating back to 1992.

Baxter accuses Halford of misleading him by telling the manager he couldn't pay him.

In a letter terminating his employment with Judas Priest from the band's lawyers, Baxter was accused of withdrawing his sponsorship of Halford's U.S. visa in order to prevent the rocker's entry into America, according to Rolling Stone.

He was also criticised for allegedly posting comments on Halford's official website before he was fired.

But Baxter's attorney, Barry K. Rothman, tells the publication that his client's firing was unjust: "It was wrongful termination because there's no basis to have him terminated. They have their own agenda.

"Baxter has been managing (Halford) for decades. Judas Priest was coming to an end and the Judas Priest people wanted to engage Halford in his solo endeavour and to continue to have a relationship with him which was not possible with Baxter in the middle. There's a whole reason why this all of the sudden abruptly came to an end."

The defendants include Halford, Andrew Thompson, a British lawyer whose firm sent Baxter the termination letter, Judas Priest manager Bill Curbishley and bassist Ian Hill.
