Journey drummer Deen Castronovo, 46, was arrested over the weekend for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, according to Tmz.com. Sources close to the band say Deen was busted on Saturday (28 January 2012) after a heated argument with his girlfriend turned physical.
According to law enforcement, Castronovo - the current touring drummer for Journey - was booked into Polk County Jail on a long-list of charges. They included assault in the 4th degree, criminal mischief in the 2nd degree, interfering with making a report and harassment. Insiders say the additional charges stem for an altercation that happened after the alleged fight. Earlier, his girlfriend had run out of their house to call her father, but Castronovo reportedly grabbed the phone and refused to let her make the call. He was released on bail, set at $52,000. A representative for the rocker says, "It was a misunderstanding that should not have been escalated to such a level in the first place".
Deen has been playing with Journey since the band released their 2001 album 'Arrival' - first becoming involved with the rockers via the late 1980's super-group Bad English. Journey released their latest LP, 'Eclipse' last year. They are officially the 28th biggest selling group in U.S chart history, having sold over 80 million records.
