Joss Whedon Signs On To Write And Direct 'The Avengers 2'
"Joss Whedon has signed an exclusive deal with Marvel Studios for film and television through the end of June 2015" the statement read. "As part of that deal, Whedon will write and direct Marvel's The Avengers 2 as well as help develop a new live action series for Marvel Television at ABC. He will also contribute creatively to the next phase of Marvel's cinematic universe."
It's the first time that Whedon has directed an action-hero film, but don't let that cloud your judgement on his capabilities, the 48 year-old has been involved in films like 'Captain America' and 'X-Men' in much smaller rolls. He also, of course, co-wrote the story to the first 'Avengers'. Whedon can also boast a screenwriting credit for the first 'Toy Story', although he can also say the same for 'Waterworld'. We'll let him off that one though, if he delivers the goods here.
