The singer and his entourage were en route to a show in Little Rock, Arkansas when the vehicle hit a roadside guard rail.

The smash damaged the bus' tyres, but Thompson is glad all the passengers escaped unscathed and made it to the gig as scheduled.

He tells music website Taste Of Country, "It's not a fun way to wake up, being tossed out of the bunk. It was a close call, but thank God nobody was hurt, and we made it to the show on time. Hopefully we can check this off the list forever."
