Jordin Sparks Pays Tribute To The Late Whitney Houston
Sparkle tells the story of three sisters who become recording stars with Motown Records. Sparks plays one of the sisters and Houston plays her mother. A trailer for the movie has already been released and the film is scheduled for cinema release in October 2012. The song was released Monday (May 21, 2012), ahead of the film's release. Houston had already enjoyed movie success, with the 1992 film The Bodyguard, starring Kevin Costner. Houston's contributions to the soundtrack for The Bodyguard proved to be some o her best-selling music. The track 'I Will Always Love You,' a Dolly Parton cover, spent 14 weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart; a record, at the time.
On Sunday night (May 20, 2012), Jordin Sparks paid tribute to the late Whitney Houston, by performing 'I Will Always Love You' at the Billboard Music Awards. She also presented a posthumous award to Whitney's daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown. Whitney passed away on February 11, 2012. She was found face down in the bathtub of her Beverly Hills Hilton hotel room. She had died as a result of the combined effects f heart disease and cocaine use.
