Houston had already enjoyed movie success, with the 1992 film The Bodyguard, starring Kevin Costner. Houston's contributions to the soundtrack for The Bodyguard proved to be some o her best-selling music. The track 'I Will Always Love You,' a Dolly Parton cover, spent 14 weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart; a record, at the time.

She also presented a posthumous award to Whitney's daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown. Whitney passed away on February 11, 2012.
