Jones Reynolds: 'Producers Told Me To Make Up A Story'
LATEST: US talk show host STAR JONES REYNOLDS has accused ABC bosses of telling her to "make up a story" about her shock departure from THE VIEW. Jones Reynolds, 44, announced that she was leaving the daytime show live on air on Tuesday morning (27JUN06), stunning her co-workers, including the programme's creator BARBARA WALTERS and the audience. Speaking to camera on Tuesday, Jones Reynolds said, "Something's been on my heart for a little bit, and after much prayer and counsel I feel like this is the right time to tell you that the show is moving in another direction for its tenth season and I will not be returning as co-host next year." The presenter appeared on CNN show LARRY KING LIVE last night (29JUN06), saying she knew she had been leaving since April (06) and was told by the producers to lie about her reasons for leaving. Jones Reynolds says, "I really want you to look back to when it was first decided, I was told 'You'll be able to leave on your own terms.' The terms I chose was to tell the truth. I mean I'm not used to being blasted for telling the truth. After Jones Reynolds' outburst on Tuesday - Walters claimed the announcement was supposed to take place yesterday (29JUN06) morning - she was asked not to return. Jones Reynolds laments, "I'm sad that the platform that I helped to build was used in a way to attack me professionally."
