Jolie's Film Wins Producer's Guild Award

Angelina Jolie has won her first award as a director with her filmmaking debut In The Land Of Blood And Honey.

The Hollywood actress has stepped behind the camera to write, co-produce and direct the movie about a romance between a Serb soldier and a Bosnian Muslim woman during the Bosnian Civil War in the 1990s.

The film has now won its first accolade, being named as the recipient of the Producers Guild of America's 2012 Stanley Kramer prize.

The award is given to films which successfully highlight "provocative social issues" and has previously been given to movies including I Am Sam, Hotel Rwanda, Milk and Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire.

Producers Guild presidents Hawk Koch and Mark Gordon say in a joint statement, "In The Land Of Blood And Honey is an extraordinary film that portrays a complex love story set against the terrors of the Bosnian war, especially towards women."

are u Americans that sick that you give a film about rape victims in a war that has one religion fighting against another a award and yet this can cause more ill feeling between the Serbs and Bosnian Muslims. no one in their right mind picks a topic of women being raped and a romance. AND YET THIS MOVIE IS BEING TAKEN TO COURT FOR IDEAS TAKEN OUT OF ANOTHER PERSONS BOOK AND THERE IS EVEN PEOPLE PROTESTING AGAINST THIS FILM AND CALLING IT RACIST. THE PUBLIC HAS NOT SEEN IT YET WHAT STILL SPOKEN ABOUT IT IN ANYTHING BUT DISGUST SO FAR. THIS IS REALLY A SICK HOLLYWOOD IN THIS DAY AND AGE. wait atleast and see if this is true and what the publics reaction is before even giving it a nomination. JMO
