Johnny Marr Writes Songs In His Sleep
The former The Smiths guitarist has played in a range of bands since the cult '80s group split, and in recent years he's turned his attention to movie soundtracks, contributing to the score to 2010 sci-fit hit Inception.
Marr admits his approach to songwriting changes as he gets older, and now his best ideas come to him while he's having a doze.
He tells music website AskMeAskMeAsk.Me, "For the last five or six years I sleep in these little three or four hour bursts and then I get these creative ideas around three o'clock in the morning. Sometimes I go to bed late and then wake up two hours later and I've got a better song."
