The Smiths - Johnny Marr Joins Chic Onstage For Manchester Festival

Marr, who has also performed with Modest Mouse and The The, joined Nile Rodgers and his band as they ripped through dancefloor classic Le Freak.

Backstage after the show, Marr told NME.com that he's hoping to take his Rogers collaboration into the studio.

The guitarist said, "I think it could easily happen. My situation has always been exactly the same as Nile's in that I’ve always made records with people I’ve become friends with and have something in common with and me and Nile have that."

Marr is a longtime fan of the Chic frontman and even named his son after Rogers.

The Brit added, "Nile's music was a game changer for me in 1978 when I was finding my guitar style. He's a huge influence."
