Johnny English Reborn has fought off competition from The Lion King 3d to top the U.K. box office with takings of almost $8 million (£5 million).
The spy movie, starring British actor Rowan Atkinson, shot to the top spot over the weekend (07-09Oct11) with a $7.94 million (£4.96 million) opening - nearly double the Disney movie's earnings of $4.3 million (£2.7 million).
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy dropped to third with $1.6 million (£1 million), while Taylor Lautner's thriller Abduction fell two places to four with takings of $820,208 (£512,630).
Katie Holmes' new movie Don't Be Afraid of the Dark opened with just $793,174 (£495,734) to round out the top five.
